American Sign Language (ASL) Dance Explorations and Performance Workshop-7 weeks

Deaf and Hearing people and dancers of all levels are invited to join in this ASL movement workshop taught by King Antoine Hunter, director and founder of Urban Jazz Dance and the Bay Area Deaf International Dance Festival with Zahna Simon assistant Director of Urban Jazz Dance Company. This workshop will guide participants in exploring the arts through a combination of Movement, Dance and Sign Language. This workshop is for Deaf adults, Deaf and hearing teachers that work with Deaf children, teens and adults; this workshop is also for actors and dancers in all kind of styles and fields of the performing arts; those who sign and those brand new to sign language; and anyone curious about the intersections of sign language and dance as a means for expression and interpretation. All levels of movers welcome from novice through professional. You will be learning, creating YOUR OWN WORK and learning choreography from Antoine Hunter which will give everyone a chance to perform for the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival this coming August 11-13, 2017 along with informal showing at Shawl Anderson dance center.
